Tweezers is a feed where posting costs money. A thought is $1. Not a subscription to read, not an advert between the posts: a price on the writing itself.
Charging is the whole idea. It keeps the spam out without a moderation army, and it makes spend the one signal on the feed that nobody can manufacture for free. The timeline ranks by money, the tag pages rank by money, and a place on The Board is held by whoever pays the most for it.
What things cost
- A post: $1
- Paid before anybody can read it. A declined card costs you nothing but the post.
- A reply: free with an account
- A guest pays $1. Charging to answer somebody put the price on the second half of a conversation, where the person paying had the least to gain from paying it.
- A picture: $3
- What an upload costs to keep and what it risks, which does not change because the post happens to answer another one.
- A product link: free
- One per post, with its own icon, name and line. Putting a price on the link would be a paywall on the thing people come here to do.
- A boost: from $1, on top of the post
- A dollar returns the post to the top of the timeline. From $2 it can take a place on The Board.
The Board
Three places at the top of the feed, held by the posts with the largest live boost. A boost is worth half as much every 24 hours and stays eligible for 7 days, so a place is never owned outright: it is held until somebody pays more or time takes it back.
Anyone can boost anyone's post. It is a vote with money behind it, not a promotion tool for authors. Three places at a dollar each would not be scarce, which is why a place starts at $2 while a bump still costs $1.
Four ways to pay
- As a guest. No account. You pick a name, pay by card, and the post is yours under a pseudonym. Your email is taken because a card requires one.
- With an account. The card is saved on the first payment, and after that posting is one tap.
- With credits. A dollar buys 2, so a post costs half price from a balance. No payment page at the moment of posting.
- On Pro. $14.99 a month, or 15 credits for 30 days. Posts and pictures included; boosts are still charged, because a subscription cannot buy a scarce place.
Indonesian payers can use QRIS, priced at Rp 10,000 to the dollar. That is regional pricing rather than a conversion, and it is deliberately kinder than the market rate.
Some things that are free
Reading, liking, following, searching, and replying with an account. Only the writing that takes a place in front of other people is charged.
What happens to a post
The words are saved before any money moves, so a declined card never costs you what you wrote, and nothing is published until the payment settles. Deleting a post does not refund it, on Pro or off it: otherwise posting and deleting would be a way to post for nothing.
Paying does not buy the right to publish anything, and paying more does not buy leeway: a Board place is held to the same rules as a dollar post. Sexual content, terrorism, hate, fraud and the rest are listed on the terms page. Anything can be reported from the menu on a post, with or without an account, and a moderator can take it down. A takedown is not refunded. Guests are pseudonymous to other readers and never anonymous to us.
